Whoever said that age is a virtue must not have looked in the mirror after waking up. Aging can be tough, especially as wrinkles and gray hair start appearing and your middle starts widening. These things happen to all of us, and one of the best things you can do is cultivate an attitude of acceptance.

It is never too late to quit smoking for in order to slow aging. Smoking not only increases the risk of lung cancer and emphysema, it is associated with a number of other cancers, cardiovascular disease, and a decreased resistance to illness. Of course, it also has a terrible effect on skin. By quitting smoking, the aging process can be more comfortable and you can extend your life expectancy.

Gradually increase the time and effort you dedicate to your exercise regimen. As you age, the muscles need even more activity to stay strong and tight. You should at least take 5 days out of every week to go on a thirty minute walk. Include some exercises that emphasize strength a couple of times each week. This will help your body stay fit, which could ward off other issues seen as you age.

Aging can be a state of mind as well as body. To reduce the feeling that age is creeping up on you, take action and fight back! A healthy diet, exercise and a good attitude about life can keep you not only feeling younger, but looking younger too!

Its pretty normal to add pounds as people get older. If you maintain your weight, your risk of stroke, diabetes, certain cancers, and high blood pressure will be lower. A combination of the right food choices and a moderate exercise program, will help to keep your body at a healthy weight.

Getting the right amount of exercise is more important as you age. Keeping a good regiment of walking in your daily routine will increase your heart conditioning from the increased heart rate. Follow your physicians advice on how much is the right amount for you individually as your specific needs may vary.

Nutrition

Eat more nuts throughout the day. Nuts are a great food to help prevent aging. They have many healthy vitamins, minerals and fats, which will help balance your daily nutrition. Plus, they are an excellent way to stop your processed food cravings between meals, leading you to a much healthier lifestyle!

As you age, discuss with your doctor what vitamins and supplements you want to take. Often times our bodies become less efficient at extracting the nutrients we need from the food eat, so we need supplements. Ensuring you get the right nutrition is of paramount importance as you go through the aging process.

As a primary caregiver, you need to try to keep yourself from feeling totally depleted. However, for some people, aging is a time where wisdom is abundant, and life is easy. Getting older is not to be dreaded when you have filled your life with people and surroundings that you love.
